Here’s the BBC’s second email response to our complaint:

Once again, we would like to reiterate that no offence was intended, but we would also like you to know that this tweet has now been deleted.

    Dear BBC

    Is Mr Rajan allowed to call colleagues ‘scum’ without disciplinary action? If not, why not? If not, why does this rule of personal behaviour not extend to Mr Cardin?

    As ‘intent’ is now a magical thing (in your Institutional view) that erases offense, I will be unable to trust your reporting on things like criminal matters. A lot of people commit crimes like drunk driving without ‘intent’ to cause harm, yet harm results. If you cannot follow such basic moral reasoning, I cannot trust your judgment.

    It’s a bit juvenile from them. If you inadvertently offend someone, you apologise, not say ‘I’m sorry you were offended’.

    If this whole thing was about you ignoring threats towards a woman, then o.k, that would make you a bad person, but you clearly are not. In fact what history I’ve noticed of you being linked to and reading on social media points to you being a person against abuses of power and intimidation.

    I think this whole thing boils down to you embarrassing them by doing their job for them. How dare you inform me of actual facts and stuff!
