An earlier post on this…

Does anyone out there know who far right Keir Starmer’s anonymous uncle was? At the moment, the veracity of this story – originating from the far right UK Prime Minister, no less – cannot be confirmed. All I can confirm is that HMS Antelope was never torpedoed. She was bombed, and sank later when a UXB that was being defused exploded, killing one man and seriously injuring another.

What a shame Labour didn’t have it in them to provide the name, rank and service number of the sailor involved.

I want to confirm that far right Keir Starmer was not lying about his anonymous uncle, yet the BBC irresponsibly ran with a fake story …

… before later changing it … (omitting to mention the fact that they’d been rumbled spreading fake news).

Let’s clear all this up, then we can ‘move on’ to the next fiasco.

I’ll start by making some separate enquiries and come back here later with the answers, if I get them.

I found this from the Daily Mirror, where a professional journalist evidently failed to pick up on the difference between bombs and torpedoes:

At least we now know it’s his mum’s brother, his uncle Roger. Our research continues…

I may be wrong, but I’ll make the working assumption that Roger Baker served on HMS Antelope. Let’s see if we can confirm this…

YES! It was Roger “Bagsy” Baker, now deceased. RIP.
