To a man and woman, the Wirral Tories, Greens, Lib Dems and Reform will NOT be using the democratic processes available to them to request that the council leader makes a public statement. I’ve now made this solid assumption because I emailed all 66 of them a full week ago, but to no avail. No-one responded.
Are they compromised?
Are they frightened?
Are they incompetent?
Are they just lazy?
Who knows? Whatever the answer is, the heat is now being turned up. This issue may be well be going public on a national basis soon.
We shall see.
Meanwhile, in the meantime, I used the excellent British Newspaper Archive to do a spot of targeted trawling through North West newspapers and came up with these old stories:
