In response to Keir Starmer’s forthcoming Social Media ban ‘protecting children’ but targeting everyone, I’m reacting in the only way I know to protect my privacy when UK authorities go breaching it and tracking me. I’m leaving Facebook (and Messenger), Twitter (X), Telegram, LinkedIn, and NextDoor. SCREW YOU.

I’m already halfway through this process of withdrawal by having never signed up to Tiktok, Instagram, SnapChat, WeChat, Reddit, and the rest of the nasties.

My email address and business website will be kept up and running. I’ll also be staying on YouTube and WhatsApp – for now – and watching their behaviour. The Wirral In It Together blog will remain on WordPress.

The Musk creature is currently not permitting users to close their Twitter (X) accounts, or at least, it’s not working for me. I’m being temporarily kicked off when I select ‘deactivate’ but the account remains. Obviously, there is no way of directly contacting his fawning acolytes in order to remedy this because the creature has insulated them from public contact behind a fake banner of ‘support’.

The next required step will be to dump my Samsung smartphone, i.e. the spy in the cab. That ain’t gonna be easy, but we’re talking about a global welter of 1984-style 24/7 surveillance here. I’ll be forced to do what’s necessary and sod the inconvenience.

THE THREAT IS SERIOUS.

The Wirral Residents Association is still running!
