You don’t suddenly become a risk in April, you have been a risk from day one. April was set as a reasonable deadline to allow those who would get the vaccine to get it. I’m a little surprised that as an EMT you were not wearing PPE as soon as it was determined that there was an airborne and surface transmissible virus causing a pandemic.

It is very disturbing to me the number of medical staff that don’t understand how vaccines work. There are currently no vaccines that have 100% efficacy. Some are close, but not 100%. This means that you can still get an infection in some cases. With the COVID vaccines, efficacy is in the range of 70-90%, with the original strain near the top and omicron near the bottom of the range.

What seems to be misunderstood by these medical staff is the difference between being able to get infected and the probability of getting infected and likewise between being able to transmit the virus and the probability of transmitting the virus. At this point the unvaccinated are over 4 times as likely to get an infection and therefore on this factor alone are four times as likely to transmit the virus. In addition, the contagious period of an infection in an unvaccinated person is longer because their bodies can’t react as quickly. Overall, this means that an unvaccinated person is far more likely to transmit COVID than a vaccinated person. It must be noted that those who have been previously infected generally have similar numbers to the vaccinated even if they haven’t been vaccinated.

The vaccines that have been approved in the UK, US, and other western countries are not still undergoing trials. All vaccines and other medications undergo safety monitoring after approval. This is standard. It does not in any way indicate that a vaccine is experimental. It’s true that long term data is not available, but that can be said for all new medications or any new technology. For example, the cell phone development and approval process is about a year, and there is limited post release safety monitoring. This doesn’t stop people from carrying one around in their pockets

You are dellussional if you think that there should be no coercion when it comes to employment. Every condition that is pleased on employment could be considered coercion, but this is not a bad thing. Companies and organizations must be able to set rules that are in their best interest and in the best interest of their clients. This is not unprecedented, there are examples of this very situation in the past.

    • Thanks for your comment. I’m in a hurry right now. I have to go out and do some urgent leafleting in the local area. I was tempted to mark your comment as spam, but decided I would leave it up for its comedy value. Many thanks !

If you disagree with something, or anything I have said, feel free to post a rebuttal, I am more than happy to discuss. Reporting a post as spam when it clearly isn’t leads me to the conclusion that you have insufficient confidence in your position to entertain a contrary opinion.

        Cheers!
