Today at Anfield before the Liverpool v Aston Villa game, “taking the knee” against racism was engaged in by players and officials whom one minute earlier had stood silent for two minutes to commemorate the passing of an unapologetic racist, a blight on the United Kingdom which had persisted for several decades.
