[VIDEOS] Wirral Council has a new leader, Labour’s Councillor Paula Basnett. Cross-party councillors were warned in detail before the vote, and had a chance to stop this happening. But as expected, they blew it. The future does NOT augur well for the people of Wirral. Read all about it here …

The new Mayor – Wirral’s first citizen – casts his vote. Does he know what he’s letting himself in for here…?

For posterity, let’s post up here the new leader’s acceptance speech, where certain ‘pledges’ are being made to the people of Wirral. Let’s now bide our time and see whether she lives up to them. It rang extremely hollow, and I’m completely uninspired by this speech. Given her past business and commerce-related conduct, which screams of unchecked nepotism, cronyism and the lavishing of public money on her own and her direct family’s pet projects, I await the future with a certain degree of trepidation.

All 66 so-called council ‘representatives’ were warned in detail about this dangerous situation a couple of days ago, but true to form, they’ve looked the other way.

Paula Basnett, Labour Party councillor, and Chair of the Wirral Chamber of Commerce. It’s NOT A GOOD LOOK, is it…?

When the time comes, let’s compare the following spoken hostages to fortune with events in the real world. And let’s just say, “Promises, like piecrust … are made to be broken.”

“Holding power to account”? There’s absolutely no chance of that, missus.
